My Services
Based on your particular situation we may choose to do supportive psychotherapy, an insight oriented psychodynamic approach, or goal-focussed skills-building based on what would best address your needs. We can flexibly adapt as the process unfolds, for example we might use a cognitive and behavioural approach if you want to address a specific problem, behaviour or core belief and transition to a more psychodynamic approach if you want to address deeper family of origin issues and dynamics. Getting Started
The initial intake interview (50 mins) allows me to gather information about your history and current life. This is also a time for you to get your questions about the process answered. This first meeting is considered an “initial assessment, and I tend to ask more questions and interview more than in the following sessions. In this meeting we review the options for a treatment approach based on your needs and on my training, certification and experience using different therapeutic modalities and interventions.
The process of informed consent involves explaining my approaches and mutually agreeing on the way we will work. I pay close attention to what clients share with me before I propose how I would approach helping them, which I share at the end of the intake interview. We discuss my proposal and negotiate as needed to see if we are a good fit to work together.
The treatment process begins formally during the second meeting if we agree to work together. We will identify and prioritise your therapeutic goals and reference this as we move forward. This will continually guide us through therapy even when goals change or develop through time.
Sessions are 1 clinical hour (45-50 Mins) unless otherwise arranged and agreed upon.
